Benefits of
Membership

Exclusive to Members

IFTA provides its Members with a source of business expertise in the sales and distribution of film and television programming worldwide, delivered through various services, including:

Advocacy

IFTA is your partner on issues that matter to your business.  The association pursues a vigorous government and public affairs agenda and IFTA Members play a significant role in shaping our advocacy efforts.  We call on our Members regularly to share regulatory, legal, and industry practice concerns and anecdotes to inform dialogues with governments, labor groups, the guilds, collecting societies, and local trade associations to address and favorably resolve issues.

IFTA frequently brings Members into conversations with key entertainment organizations and positions them as expert sources with leading trade and business media for features on the independent industry.

Licensing & Distribution Support

IFTA constantly monitors important legal, regulatory, and licensing updates on behalf of Members so we can keep you informed about emerging opportunities and threats to your business and work with you to determine the best course of action.

Access to IFTA Legal & Research Teams

Have questions?  Our in-house Legal and Research experts are here for answers.  We’ll dig for the answers, point you to available resources, determine how others have resolved similar challenges, or connect you with fellow Members. Our goal is to help you operate seamlessly as the marketplace changes.

IFTA Model Agreements

Established in 1986, the IFTA Multiple Rights International Licensing Agreements (MILA) and Sales Agency Agreements are regarded as the worldwide “industry standards” and are used by the industry at large.

They provide all current standard terms and definitions for licensing international rights in motion pictures and television programming across all distribution channels.  These agreements represent and protect Members’ interests and provide strong negotiating tools.  The newest editions (January 2022) are provided in full to IFTA Members.

Certificates of Origin & Export Documentation

IFTA Certificates are well-recognized around the globe as an administrative document used during delivery and distribution to identify and confirm the “country of origin” of a production, or the authorized Distributor and the licensed rights for a particular territory.  Members can easily and efficiently obtain IFTA Certificates of Origin, as well as specialized Certifications for China and Korea, through the private Member platform, MyIFTA, eliminating trips to consulates and notaries.

Insight & Education

IFTA is your source for information and the place where Members come to learn.  IFTA has built a strong program that spotlights Members, new business opportunities, and that offers expert advice on how to implement the tactics needed to succeed.  The association also creates and compiles industry research and insights relevant to our Members and their business – sent straight to your inbox.

IFTA Live

IFTA produces a robust offering of live webinars exclusively for Members with panels of industry experts speaking to developing marketplace conditions, territories, VOD, licensing opportunities, and the latest industry trends.  The replays are made available for Members to access anytime, anywhere on IFTA’s private Member platform, MyIFTA.

IFTA Publications & Resources

We provide industry resources and research covering the ever‐changing entertainment marketplace.  IFTA produces territory snapshots, guides to copyright protection and services, tax and regulatory information, and since March 2020, ongoing reports on cinema and production restrictions.
